Hackney is set to welcome back its annual Windrush Festival this June to honour the contributions made by the Windrush Generation and their descendants. The festival will be a chance to discover, learn about, and celebrate a part of British history and its legacy within Hackney.

This year WCFF presents a screening of Burning an Illusion by Menelik Shabazz, alongside a curated programme of short films at the Rio Cinema. WCFF celebrates the stories of the Windrush generation and their descendants. Through powerful films, the festival explores identity, migration, and belonging, connecting audiences across the UK, the diaspora, and beyond. Founded by Joy Coker, Alt A Review is a media platform and publisher dedicated to amplifying Black, Brown, and minority creative voices in arts and culture. This is a fee paying event.
