This is My Story

Join this free Windrush Writing Workshop funded by Hackney Council's Windrush Microgrant and Twenty9Twelve.
About This Event
"When an Elder dies a Library burns down. We owe it to future generations not just to tell our stories but to write them down." Hackney Council in association with Twenty9Twelve as part of the Hackney Windrush Season are funding a Legacy Writing Workshop, led by 17 year old Hackney author, Romeo Bremmer, and featuring 11 year old author Jahmari Maxwell. We are inviting families to bring your Elders to participate in a workshop teaching you exactly how to document the Legacy of your loved ones. Once registered, the first 50 Elders (aged 70+) who turn up to the event will get a free copy of 'The Legacy File' a beautiful A4, gold embossed, hardback book that they can use to document their life, experiences and store special photographs and mementos. There is also an opportunity for Elders to have their photograph professionally taken free of charge in the Education Room, by professional photographer and videographer Carlton Smith from Creative Content. The first 20 Elders (aged 70+) who arrive from 12pm will be eligible. To book your place, please visit: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/this-is-my-story-tickets-1334965530839
