Moth survey and butterfly transect training with Butterfly Conservation Society

Join Steve Bolton from Butterfly Conservation’s ‘Big City Butterflies’ to delve into the wonderful world of butterflies and moths at a free workshop.
About This Event
Moths are often overlooked in comparison to butterflies, but we have over 2,500 species of moth in Britain alone! Moths are a vital part of our ecosystem and come in all shapes, sizes and colours. Many are just as bright and beautiful as butterflies and others showing incredible camouflage to expertly blend in with their surroundings. During the event you will have a chance to get up close with some of these amazing creatures as we will be identifying, talking about, and showing which moths were attracted to our light trap the night before*. Following the moth identification session we will take you on a guided walk around the site looking for butterflies, provide ID tips and talk about recording methods.
